NEW DELHI/MUMBAI, October 17 (Openly) - LGBTQ+ Indians vowed on Tuesday to persevere in their quest for marriage equality, even after the Supreme Court ruled against legalizing same-sex marriages. However, they fear a long delay due to government resistance to same-sex unions. A five-judge panel sent the hot topic back to parliament to decide, shattering the aspirations of millions of LGBTQ+ individuals in the world's most densely populated country. This comes five years after the jurisdiction abolished a colonial-era prohibition on same-sex relations. The court also ruled that same-sex couples do not have the privilege of adopting. "We may falter in our march towards equality, but our resolve remains unwavering," said Saattvic, a gay Indian residing with his partner in Vancouver, Canada, introducing himself only by his first name.
